Function

Centrifugal cantilevered close-coupled electric pumps of KM type are intended for pumping petroleum products with viscosity up to 10-4 m²/s (100 sSt), temperature from 243 К up to 358К (from minus 30°С up to +85°С), with content of solid inclusions not more than 0,2% by weight and size of particles not more than 0,2 mm.

Electric pumps of KM type are related to items of aspect 1 (repairable ones) as per GOST 27.003-90 and are fabricated in climatic version U3.1 as per GOST 15150-69.

Electric pumps are admitted for operation in highly explosive productions, in which formation of mixtures of gases and vapours with air is possible, and rated as explosion hazard category IIA, IIV and group Т1, Т2, Т3, Т4 as per GOST 12.1.011-90. Electric pumps of explosion hazard group Т4 are admitted for operation only with double end-face seal of the shaft, the other pumps with single end-face seal are provided with auxiliary cuffs.

According to IEC (Electric installation code) the pumps can be installed in explosion hazard zones of class V-Ia,

V-Ib, V-Ig, V-IIA, P-1 and P-II. In development work the safety requirements as per OST 26-06-2028-96 have been taken into consideration.


Design

Centrifugal cantilevered close coupled electric pump is equipped with double end-face seal of the shaft or single end-face seal together with an auxiliary cuff.

The casing of the pump is a steel casting in which the inlet and outlet nozzles, spiral chamber and supporting legs are executed.

The casing serves as connecting link of the electric pump and is attached to the motor flange by its own flange.

Arranged between the casing and motor flange is a steel diaphragm which accommodates an end-face seal.

Centrifugal impeller is a bronze casting. Impeller is secured on the electric motor shaft by the key with cone. Impeller is unloaded from axial force action.

Sense of shaft rotation – clockwise, if viewed from the drive end and is indicated by arrow being cast-in and painted red.

Electric motor should be explosion proof.

  • at oil refining plants for pumping of oil products (gasoline, kerosene, diesel fuel)
  • at petrochemical and oil refining productions in technological lines for fuel supply and pumping of oil products in conditions of explosion-dangerous productions on which formation of explosion-dangerous mixes of gases and vapor with air is possible
  • at petroleum storage depots for reception and release of oil products
  • in systems of oil extraction
