Torque flow pumps of SMS type and electric pump units on their base are intended for pumping municipal and industrial waste waters and other nonaggressive liquids with the density up to 1050 kg/m³, with рН=5-10, with the temperature up to 363К (90°С), carrying sufficiently large foreign matters, and the content of abrasive particles not more than 1% by weight with the size of up to 5 mm. The limit concentration of the pumped mass is 8%. The limit gas content in the pumped media is 5%.

The pumps may be used in other industries if their parameters and versions comply with the operating and safety conditions of such industries.

Pumps (units) are related to the items of aspect 1 (repairable ones) as per GOST 27.003-90 and are fabricated in climatic version UHL for servicing in the premises of location category 4 as per GOST 15150-69 and climatic version T location category 2 as per GOST 15150-69.

Pumps of SMS type and electric pump units on their base are not designed for use in explosion-and-fire hazard premises.

Pumps and units have been designed with due account for the export delivery requirements as per ОSТ26-06-2011-7.


Pumps of SMS type – are centrifugal, horizontal, cantilevered pumps with stuffing box seal of the shaft.

The casing of SMS pump is an iron casting, in which the pump inlet and outlet nozzle, spiral-annular bleed fitting and supporting legs are executed.

The pump inlet is positioned along the axis of rotation, the discharge nozzle is directed vertically upwards and is arranged in the same plane with the axis of impeller rotation. The casings of the SMS and SM pumps are the same ones.

Impeller – is of torque flow type (opened), it is displaced in the axial direction relatively to the spiral casing of the pump: thus it allows to pump liquids with sufficiently large foreign matters. Impeller is fixed on the shaft with the help of the nut-cone.

The pump rotor is put in rotation by electric motor through the coupling with rubber-bushed studs. Two radial thrust bearings accommodated within the bracket, give support to the rotor.

Sense of rotor rotation is right-handed (clockwise), if viewed from the electric motor side.

  • in systems of water removal of sewage flows of industrial and economic objects (housing and communal services, municipal water canals)
  • in drainage systems for sewage treatment
  • pumping and draining of sewage flows at the industrial enterprises including the enterprises of metallurgical and oil refining branches

Features /Advantages

  • in comparison with pumps of CM type operation with liquids having rather large impurity is allowed. Impeller location reduces risk of jamming and clogging
